"Juliane Koepcke was born a German national in Lima, Peru, in 1954, the daughter of a world-renowned zoologist (Hans-Wilhelm) and an equally revered ornithologist (Maria). As a teenager, Juliane was enrolled at a Peruvian high school. Her parents were stationed several hundred miles away, manning a remote research outpost in the heart of the Amazon. Juliane herself was no stranger to the swelteringly harsh Amazonian environment and was well versed in the inner workings of its volatile ecosystem. It was this knowledge that would later save her life.

On Christmas Eve 1971, only hours after her high school graduation ceremony, 17-year-old Juliane and her mother boarded a plane that was to cross the Peruvian rain forest. They were heading home to celebrate Christmas with her father. The plane flew into a volatile thunderstorm and was obliterated in seconds—killing all 92 passengers except for Juliane. After being thought dead for 11 days, she emerged from the jungle and was reunited with her father."

"In this March 29, 2012, photo, Floyd "Creeky" Creekmore poses for a photo after a visit with children at a circus in Billings, Mont. Guinness World Records has anointed the world's oldest performing clown, and it's none other than Creekmore, a former Montana rancher who's been donning the big nose and bright makeup for almost eight decades. "The man is holding a normal sized 12 oz. can of Molson beer. You can see flesh on the top and bottom of the can. I repeat… the man’s hand was bigger than a 12 oz. can. Sure, he was 7′ 4” and about 500lbs. Yes, that’s huge…but I still couldn’t really relate or wrap my head around it."

"Andre's proportions, added to his height and unique bone structure, are only part of what makes him so truly giantlike. His hands, in particular, have always drawn attention, not only for their length and breadth but for their massiveness. They, like his feet, are disproportionately thick, giving them an almost pawlike appearance. His fingers are so large that he wears a ring through which a silver dollar may easily pass. Shaking hands with him is a humbling experience, producing memories of boyhood in the largest of men." Terry Todd

A blonde woman ran over a mattress on the highway, and decided not to worry --and kept on driving...

It caught on the undercarriage of her Ford...

The ensuing  jumble finally whipped around enough to tear a hole in the fuel tank.

The subsequent lack of fuel is what finally stopped her after driving more than 30 miles with 60 pounds of  tangled and twisted wire  wrapped around the drive shaft.

She had it towed to the Ford dealership where she complained of "sort of a Shimmy" when driving at high speeds.

The  mechanics couldn't believe what they found when the vehicle was put on the hoist !

CINCINNATI (AP) — "A 1941 fruitcake has sold for $525 to an Arizona man in an Ohio company's online auction, and the money will go to the homeless in southwest Ohio.

Elite Estate Group sold the cake in an auction on its website. Company owner Larry Chaney says the man, who wanted to remain anonymous, probably bought the cake as an investment. Chaney says he doubts anyone would eat a 70-year-old fruitcake even though it was vacuum packed and contained rum that probably helped preserve it.
The cake was made in 1941 by The Kroger Co. It was returned unopened to a Kroger store in 1971. The manager took it home and kept it until recently when his son was helping him get rid of some things and gave the cake to Chaney."

"Celebrating your 18th birthday is a momentous occasion for anyone, but for tiny Jyoti Amge the milestone is even bigger news.
The 2ft teenager is already a mini celebrity in her hometown of Nagpur, India, but is now set for a huge record when she is officially declared the world's smallest woman.
And despite her miniature stature, 61.95cm-tall Jyoti hopes to celebrate being crowned the world's shortest woman by launching a Bollywood movie career."

Seal pup wanders into home and puts his flippers up...
By Kiri Gillespie of the Bay of Plenty Times

A wandering baby fur-seal wriggled through the cat-door of a Bay of Plenty house - and made himself at home on the couch. A stunned Annette Swoffer thought she must have been hallucinating when she found the young pup hanging out with her cats in her kitchen on Sunday night.

"While this is hardly something one would want to hold the record for, for a so many reasons, it would seem that Lina is unlikely to lose this record any time soon (or one would at least hope so!) So, for now, the current record for youngest human being to give birth to another is 5 years, 7 months, and 17 days, which means she was probably impregnated a month or two before her fifth birthday. Disturbing…"
