Reach For The Sky --- Mary Youngblood

"Everything is a part of everything else,
changing constantly from one state to another.
The rain becomes the river...the river surrenders to the sea...
and the cycle begins over again."

The Angels Came Down ~ Kevin Costner & Modern West

Angels Came Down

Walking all alone in the Southern rain
By graveyards and battlefields that blood still stains
Back to a time when the angels came
Walking all alone in the Southern rain

In the forests and the fields so many men were killed
I can hear their cries still echo through these hills
That was the time when the angels came
Walking all alone in the Southern rain

The angels came down to the fallen men
They held their hands and they prayed for them
They carried their souls beyond the moon and the sun
All the way to heaven one by one

The angels worked so hard for so many years
To heaven and back again they shed so many tears
They left no one and they placed no blame
Walking all alone in the Southern rain

The angels came down to the fallen men
They held their hands and they prayed for them
They carried their souls beyond the moon and the sun
All the way to heaven one by one

Walking all alone in the Southern rain
Never heal the troubles never heal the pain
But that was the time when the angels came
Walking all alone in the Southern Rain

Chet Atkins & Jethro Burns play "Gallopin' Guitar" and "Blackbird"

"This treasure brought to our attention by friend and rhythm guitar virtuoso,John Parrot: brothers-in-law, mandolin swing innovator Jethro Burns and master finger-style picker Chet Atkins featured in a delightful medley of "Gallopin' guitar' and "Bye Bye Blackbird." Notice in the first song, the spry premier jazz mandolinist Don Stiernberg in a supportive role and John himself in the very back corner barking out the backbeat. Also, the cat playing the 6-string Fender bass is Neil Seroka (also a great jazz guitarist and personal friend of Don's.)" http://jazzmando.com

It was also Donegan's greatest chart success in the United States, reaching number five on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1961.

Chet Atkins "Yankee Doodle Dixie"

"I think it was about the time that Chet demonstrated that he could play two songs at once, that we began to realize who the REAL Mr. Guitar in this world was...."

I believe it was on Hee-Haw that I watched Chet play the seemingly impossible !

The Gentle Acoustic Guitar of Gareth Dickson

Based around the acoustic guitar, Gareth Dickson’s compositions employ effects (analogue delay and reverb) in an attempt to recreate something of the modern ambient/electronic musical landscape, as well as referencing some of the well known fingerpickers of the past such as Nick Drake and Bert Jansch. Sometimes entirely instrumental, sometimes with sparing vocals, always with the idea of exploring and finding new possibilities for an age old instrument. He has toured extensively as Vashti Bunyan’s guitarist and has toured as a solo artist providing support for Juana Molina and Isobel Campbell among others.

Good night to you who are far away"

Earl Scruggs Breakdown ~ RIP

Remembering the greatness. Earl Scruggs  - January 6, 1924 - March 28

"Country great Porter Wagoner probably summed up Scruggs' importance best of all: "I always felt like Earl was to the five-string banjo what Babe Ruth was to baseball. He is the best there ever was, and the best there ever will be.""
