    Director : Daihei Shibata

"Life is transparent, warm and swirls randomly like a soft light.
    And it constantly changes...

Life illuminates itself and then it begins to illuminates a new life.
A sprouted mass of innumerable lights become a flow before long,
and then become the part of the life-throb of ages.

That ties life, this moment now."

    Rosary, ca. 1500–1525
    German
    Ivory, silver, partially gilded mounts

"Each bead of the rosary represents the bust of a well-fed burgher or maiden on one side, and a skeleton on the other. The terminals, even more graphically, show the head of a deceased man, with half the image eaten away from decay. Such images served as reminders that life is fleeting and that leading a virtuous life as a faithful Christian is key to salvation."

“The open prairies reflect my open heart. The high mountainous country resembles the heights of my dreams, visions and goals. The tall golden grass swaying in the fall breeze reminds me of how free I am to do what I love.

Growing up in SW Saskatchewan instilled an appreciation for rugged and raw beauty that would unfold some years later in my life. With no conscious intention I have become a historian of documenting the keepers of our grasslands. Recording their way of life through the lens of my camera has become my way of life."

"The damselfish Chrysiptera cymatilis is one of 1,060 new species found on or near the island of New Guinea (see map) between 1998 and 2008, according to a new report. Earth's largest tropical island is divided between Indonesia in the west and Papua New Guinea in the east.

The "striking" blue fish, found in 1999, lives in the pristine Coral Triangle, a region that supports the most diverse marine ecosystems on Earth, according to the report Final Frontier: Newly Discovered Species of New Guinea (1998—2008), by the conservation organization WWF.

"If you look at New Guinea in terms of biological diversity, it is much more like a continent than an island," Neil Stronach, program representative for WWF Western Melanesia, said in a statement.

"Scientists found an average of two new species each week from 1998 [to] 2008—nearly unheard of in this day and age." (See pictures of more new species found in Papua New Guinea, including a "Yoda bat.")

However, poorly planned and unsustainable development on New Guinea—for example, logging and agriculture—is jeopardizing the future of many of these species, the report emphasized."

Newly Found Filaments Inside Cells Might Be the Key to How They Divide
    By Caitlin Kearney

Biologists have studied cell division for decades, yet the mechanics of how cells physically separate from one another have remained largely a mystery. To better understand the mechanism, molecular cell biologist Daniel Gerlich of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, along with colleagues from Switzerland and Germany, scanned dividing cells at various angles with electron beams.

The scientists used that data to create a 3-D image of the intercellular bridge, the region where cells split in two. The image showed the cell’s internal skeleton, which includes microtubules [red], and also revealed previously unknown filaments [green] constricting the area where division occurs. Gerlich says that his next goal is to clarify the chemical composition of the mysterious filaments and the process by which they form.

One day I had lunch with some friends. Jim, a short, balding golfer type about 80 years old, came along with them all in all, a pleasant bunch.

When the menus were presented, we ordered salads, sandwiches, and soups, except for Jim who said, "Ice Cream, please. Two scoops, chocolate.

I wasn't sure my ears heard right, and the others were aghast. "Along with heated apple pie," Jim added, completely unabashed.

We tried to act quite nonchalant, as if people did this all the time. But when our orders were brought out, I didn't enjoy mine. I couldn't take my eyes off Jim as his pie a-la-mode went down. The other guys couldn't believe it. They ate their lunches silently and grinned.

The next time I went out to eat, I called and invited Jim. I lunched on white meat tuna. He ordered a parfait.
I smiled. He asked if he amused me.

I answered, "Yes, you do, but also you confuse me.
How come you order rich desserts, while I feel I must be sensible?

He laughed and said "I'm tasting all that is possible.

I try to eat the food I need, and do the things I should.
But life's so short, my friend, I hate missing out on something good."

This year I realized how old I was.
(He grinned) I haven't been this old before."
    "So, before I die,
I've got to try those things that for years I had ignored.

I haven't smelled all the flowers yet.
There are too many trout streams I haven't fished.
There's more fudge sundaes to wolf down and kites to be flown overhead.
There are too many golf courses I haven't played.

I've not laughed at all the jokes.
I've missed a lot of sporting events and potato chips and cokes.

I want to wade again in water and feel ocean spray on my face.
I want to sit in a country church once more and thank God for His grace.

I want peanut butter every day spread on my morning toast.
I want un-timed long distance calls to the folks I love the most.

I haven't cried at all the movies yet, or walked in the morning rain.
I need to feel wind on my face. I want to be in love again.

So, if I choose to have dessert, instead of having dinner, then should I die before night fall,
I'd say I died a winner, because I missed out on nothing.

    I filled my heart's desire.
I had that final chocolate mousse before my life expired.."

With that, I called the waitress over.. "I've changed my mind, "
I said. "I want what he is having, only add some more whipped cream!"

This is my gift to you - We need an annual Friends Day!
If you get this twice, then you have more than one friend. Live well, love much & laugh often - Be happy.

Remember that while money talks, CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM SINGS!
