The Musée d'Art Moderne in Paris organized the first retrospective of one of the greatest cartoonists of the past fifty years: Robert Crumb . Among the pioneers of the Underground comics, he appears as a mythical figure of the cons-American culture. His satirical stories scour the moral shackles and wearing a sharp eye on the company, its darkness and absurdities.
Robert Crumb's drawings appeared for the first time in France in 1970, thanks to the covers of the magazine Current, including illustrations already published in the United States. A prolific writer, his work has profoundly influenced the world of comics over two generations. With a flexible and feature dense, recognizable, he questions the boundaries of comics. Crumb explores different areas in his drawings: family, sex, music, hippies, money, etc ... - but his greatest inspiration is himself,. He does not hesitate to make naked in recounting his obsessions, his relationships with women and his outlook on life. But regardless of acuity and sometimes cruelty in his eyes to these themes, it should cover all topics with a very personal humor.
