High fructose corn syrup linked to global diabetes
"The paper reports that out of 42 countries studied, the US has the highest per capita consumption of high fructose corn syrup at a rate of 25 kilograms, or 55 pounds, per year. "This research suggests that HFCS can increase the risk of type 2 diabetes, which is one of the most common causes of death in the world today," says study co-author Professor Stanley Ulijaszek."
