"Juliane Koepcke was born a German national in Lima, Peru, in 1954, the daughter of a world-renowned zoologist (Hans-Wilhelm) and an equally revered ornithologist (Maria). As a teenager, Juliane was enrolled at a Peruvian high school. Her parents were stationed several hundred miles away, manning a remote research outpost in the heart of the Amazon. Juliane herself was no stranger to the swelteringly harsh Amazonian environment and was well versed in the inner workings of its volatile ecosystem. It was this knowledge that would later save her life.

On Christmas Eve 1971, only hours after her high school graduation ceremony, 17-year-old Juliane and her mother boarded a plane that was to cross the Peruvian rain forest. They were heading home to celebrate Christmas with her father. The plane flew into a volatile thunderstorm and was obliterated in seconds—killing all 92 passengers except for Juliane. After being thought dead for 11 days, she emerged from the jungle and was reunited with her father."

A shocking video captures the moment a bus plunged off a cliff on the 'world's most dangerous road'

The jaw-dropping footage shows the driver creeping past the cliff's edge on a treacherous stretch of the Bolivian pass while a crowd tries to help guide his way.

One man who steps forward and gestures to the driver to help him steer further away from the edge does so in vain as it eventually tips forward with the weight of it carrying it over the side.

"The 1600-mile long Zambezi is the longest river in Africa to flow to the Indian Ocean. It meanders through 4 countries, plunges over the mighty Victoria Falls, and powers 2 hydro-electric plants. An Australian woman got more of a close-up of it than she bargained for when her bungee cord broke after she dove off the 420-foot high Victoria Falls Bridge in Zimbabwe. Click on the video, but please hold onto something first. And think twice before strapping a thick piece of elastic to your ankle."

This accident occurred north of Deer Lodge on I-90. The driver was apprx. 22 year old guy heading east to College.  He had left central Washington early in the morning.  He fell asleep at the wheel and drifted off the shoulder hitting the end of the section of guard rail.

The guard rail came through the right headlight, engine compartment, firewall, glove box, passenger seat, rear seat and exited out the driver’s side rear window.  That is 120 LF of guard rail that threaded through the suburban.

No passengers and the driver was not injured.

I am sharing this as a reminder to all about NOT driving when you shouldn’t be behind the wheel (drinking, texting, distracted or just plain tired).
