"Gedi is one of Kenya's great little known treasures, an astonishing vanished metropolis lying at the heart of the immense Arabuko Sokoke forest sixty miles away from Mombassa, Kenya’s second city. It is moreover a site of enormous mystery, an archaeological enigma that to this day creates intense discussion between historians. Who built in and why did they leave ?"

"This is one of the pieces from an ongoing psychedelic/ambient video project "Sibyl".

"Sibyl" was inspired in part by the spirit of 1970's progressive rock concept albums, ancient Greek mythology, and shamanic ritual. It will consist of several short videos. Each piece will be autonomous, albeit part of a greater whole. The final number of videos and the total length is still to be determined. Each video in the series will be released as it is completed.

All pieces will be directed and produced by Yoshi Sodeoka  . Music will be composed in collaboration between Yoshi Sodeoka and Daron Murphy."

"Dinner in the Sky is a high flying Sky Box that takes 22 guests to a viewing height of up to 180 feet. The 22 guests are comfortably strapped into a leather seat that is secured to a dining table. The dining table and seats are connected to a crane which then performs the lift. The center of the dining table has a walking platform that can accommodate up to 5 service personnel for the purpose of serving food, beverages, picture taking, conducting a meeting or product launch presentation. “The whole structure is suspended 50 meters height! Put your seat belt on and eat a delicious meal enjoying the scenery. The original restaurant is available for 8 hours, but can be hired according to the customers wishes.”"

Solar Pillar   Credit: Lars D. Terkelsen | larsdaniel.com

This shot, taken in May 2010 at Nødebohuse, North Zealand, in Denmark, shows a natural phenomenon referred to as a solar pillar. These vertical beams of light areusually created in cold air by ice crystals falling from high clouds. The crystals are sometimes flat, and air resistance will cause them to float flatly, rather than knifing downward on edge. As sunlight reflects off the crystals, the resulting column of light shining up into the sky seems to come from the sun, but in reality it's just a few miles away from the observer.

An eared grebe in need of rescuing, after it crash-landed onto the snow-covered ground in St. George, UT, mistaking it for a lake. Credit: Utah Division of Wildlife, Lynn Chamberlain

"Thousands of migrating birds crash-landed onto parking lots and other thinly snow-covered surfaces in St. George, Utah, Monday night (Dec. 12), apparently mistaking the glinting open spaces for lakes. Community members and state wildlife officials are working together to clean up from the disaster, rescuing survivors and disposing of the casualties."
