Nonsense Books by Edward Lear

"Surely the most beneficent and innocent of all books yet produced is the "Book of Nonsense," with its corollary carols, inimitable and refreshing, and perfect in rhythm. I really don't know any author to whom I am half so grateful for my idle self as Edward Lear. I shall put him first of my hundred authors. "

PUBLISHERS' NOTICE:
The first "Book of Nonsense" was published in 1846. Three other volumes,—"Nonsense Songs, Stories, etc.," published in 1871; "More Nonsense Pictures, etc.," in 1872; and "Laughable Lyrics: A Fresh Book of Nonsense, etc.," in 1877,—comprise all the "Nonsense Books" written by Mr. Lear.—JOHN RUSKIN, in the "List of the Best Hundred Authors."

The Red House

"A Middle-aged farmer goes to extreme lengths to protect the dark secret associated with a deserted house on his property. Murky psychological thriller with resonant settings and an emotive Miklos Rozsa score."
- noir expert Spencer Selby

Negative vision of marine life ~ Sulawesi, Indonesia

Vittoria, from London, said: "I stumbled across a negative version of one of my images and became really excited - they had the power to trigger the imagination. I was stunned, it was as if I was looking at my photos for the first time." (Sea anemone)

Sarisarinama ~ Rio Lulaba, Venezuela

"Besides being one of the most remote locations in all of Venezuela, Sarisarinama is one of the most bizarre landscapes in the world. High in the clouds on a tepui, or tabletop mountain, are four giant sinkholes, each a near-perfect circle, cutting through the foliage-covered mountain.

The largest of the sinkholes is 1150 feet wide and 1000 feet deep. Although the other three well-known holes are not quite as large, they are equally impressive, and drop off in the midst of the primeval forest on top of the tepui. Adding to the mystery of the place is the the local legend that gave the tepui its name. According to natives to the area, a flesh-eating evil spirit lived on the mountain, who made the sound Sari Sari when he was consuming human meat."

Private Moon

An amazing set of photos starting 2003 to 2005 by Leonid Tishkov & Boris Bendikov.

“Writer Chesterton once said that there couldn’t be a personal faith as there couldn’t be a personal sun or a personal moon. In Russia everything is the other way round: we are faced with life one to one, and we are completely lonely in the face of the problem of time, that is, the problem of life and death, the problem of losses and gains, the moon, the sun, and everything in this life. We could, conceivably, turn to someone for support. But we are still lonely… However, that shouldn’t make us grieve or suffer. Loneliness of this sort means that we exist, we are here, we are at the enter of the universe and we are comparable to the Moon, to the other celestial bodies. “Private Moon” is a visual poem telling the story of a man who met the Moon and stayed with her for the rest of his life.”

Horseshoe Bend

Dramatic river bend surrounds a natural red-rocked pedestal

"Just a short hike from Route 89 near Page, Arizona is one of America's great natural wonders. In a spectacularly dramatic landscape, the area provides great hiking among the red rocks looking over the river.

Although Horseshoe Bend is a natural formation, it is almost perfect enough to cast some doubt. Swirling around a 1,000-foot-high pedestal, the Colorado River bends in a smooth circle around a massive, craggy rock formation before flowing back through the Southwest"
