"Amethyst is a form of silica mineral quartz that is often valued as a semiprecious gem for its violet-to-purple color and attractively shaped crystals. Many experts attribute this unique coloration to small amounts of iron impurities in the crystal lattice of quartz, which usually exhibits a clear and colorless texture. Other scientists, however, theorize that the mineral's color arises from the presence of minute quantities of manganese or hydrocarbons.
Amethysts can occur as long prismatic crystals that have a hexagonal pyramid shape at either end, or as crystalline crusts lining internal cavities of rocks. The amethyst-containing minerals often lose their color or acquire a yellowish tint when heated. Citrine gemstones, which are found somewhat rarely in nature, are often created by heat-treatment of low grade, inexpensive amethysts."

"Tucked away in the Northern Ural Mountains of Russia, seven massive rock formations inexplicably explode from the flat landscape around them. Jutting up to heights of over 200 feet, the Manpupuner Rock Formations have no obvious origin and command a powerful spiritual presence for visitors.
The Manpupuner Formations, also known as the Seven Strong Men, are more or less unknown outside of Russia. Akin to the Easter Island giants, the seven formations are mysterious, starkly contrasting their plateau environment. Likely some sort of karst formation, the rocks feel like the remnants of some long lost civilization."
“It’s not too interesting to do what others can,” the artist says. “To create something out of nothing in a completely new way is far more inspiring”. Sergey Bobkov
Bobkov, who received a patent on manufacturing art sculptures made of cutting chips, spent eight months creating two martens, using about 150 thousand pieces of Siberian cedar. In total he has made 15 life-size wooden sculptures of Siberian birds and animals.
