    Beautiful Robin Red Breast

    Hello Robin Red Breast.
    How do you do?
Sitting on the fence watching me,
as I look out at you.
You seem to know I see you,
even though I don’t come outside.
You sit there strutting your beauty
    with such spirited pride.
You sing such a pretty song,
and I know it won’t be long,
till the warm weather comes along.
Then I can come out and listen to you
since you seem to like having me near.
    So your wonderful chirping sounds
will be easier for me to hear.
You are so friendly and faithful
that you come by every year.
It is strange how you know, exactly when to appear.
It is like you can read my mind, to know,
when I will look out the window.
    The beauty of your colors,
for me, you are there to show.
Beautiful Robin Red Breast, you are one of God’s favorite things.
And I think he sends you to see me every year,
because he knows how much joy,
    your appearance brings.

Stop by the Botanic Gardens on Friday, May 6, 2011 for free hardy pumpkin seeds (while supplies last) that are selected for the Cheyenne Climate.

The date coincides with Mother's Day weekend, the unofficial start of the garden season, and a time when the environment is top of mind for most of the public. The Cheyenne Botanic Gardens is Cheyenne's Natural Resource.

"It’s not a bird or a plane, but it is an ant the size of a hummingbird.

A winged ant queen fossilized in 49.5-million-year-old Wyoming rock ranks as the first body of a giant ant from the Western Hemisphere, says paleoentomologist Bruce Archibald of Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia.

The new species, Titanomyrma lubei, is related to giant ants previously found in German fossils."

"Children's television was really psychedelic when I was a kid. It's probably why so many of artists in my generation are obsessed with bright colors and altered states. This is part of a series of explorations using old videos from late-70's, early-80's TV and extracting the movement and color while stripping away content. These are created using video processing systems that analyze the motion of each pixel and manipulatethat information before applying it to the incoming images. The distortions and color combinations are a result of an accumulation of frames and pixel manipulations over time. This will be part of a longer video that I'm working on for a video/print project."
